Wait for me, Singapore!
When I passed the test for the English Camp to be conducted in Singapore, I was overjoyed. Actually I have been postponing the test several times for the fear that I might fail at the test. I had no confidence in my English proficiency. So I was much happier than otherwise it would be the case. This is my first visit abroad; so I was worried about the communication with foreigners. But after taking pre-departure intramural training, and with time for departure approaching, I had more excitement than fear.

I was almost stifled by the heat when I get out of the Changi International Airport for the moisture and heat. I heard that Singapore is very hot. But I did not think it would be this hot. I realized that I was overseas at last. Living in Singapore has imprinted impressive memories on me.

First, school life is very impressive in MDIS. MDIS is a school with many races. There would be many troubles if it was in Korea. However, as a multiracial nation, Singapore has no discrimination problems. When I go to MDIS for the first time, I felt like I could not live here. And at first in class, I could not answer to the instructor and understand what the teacher tells in English. But, after a few days, I¡¡bought a drink alone and helped other students to look for the classroom. It seems natural as if I stayed in Korea. I myself was surprised at the fact that I was joking with the instructor in English.

Second, there are many delicious foods and many kinds of cuisines - Indian, Chinese, Malay and European. I ate laksa, Kaya toast, chicken rice, dim-sum, and so on. Among them I especially liked laksa. There are a few people hate laksa. But I can't find any flaw; aroma, taste, crunchy texture are all mixed laksa. I will recommend the food and they must have laksa if my friends go to Singapore. Because of the customs and history, people of the country have influenced and been influenced by the foods of the country.

Finally, there are many attractive places in Singapore: Sentosa Island, Little India, Orchard Road, Old City, and so on. They were attactive enough. But I was particularly impressed with Sentosa Island where I stayed 2 days. Especially the beach in Sentosa Island is very different from those of Korea. Korean beaches are packed with parasols and mats. But Siloso Beach in Sentosa Island is packed with people enjoying beach sports - beach volleyball, dodge ball and sunbathing. Singapore has many things enough to attract me as well as many foreigners.

Though short, this trip to Singapore will be never forgotten. Awkwardness with a foreigner has gone after a few days. The heat also does not matter. Even in the morning nowadays, I think that I go to MDIS by MRT and listen to lectures in MDIS. Though it was only a 10-day stay, it has left many memories on my mind. If given a chance to go abroad, I will go to Singapore again. Wait for me, Singapore!
